Finchingfield and Wethersfield Neighbourhood Plan Consultation.

Braintree District Council

Finchingfield and Wethersfield Neighbourhood Plan Consultation.

A Finchingfield and Wethersfield Neighbourhood Plan has been submitted to Braintree District Council by the Parish Councils. We are now seeking views on the Plan (under Regulation 16 of The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012).

Where can I view and comment on the plan and supporting documents?

The consultation is open until 5pm on Wednesday 1st July 2026

Hard copies of the documents and response forms are also available at:

  • Wethersfield Club Shop, Old Mill Chase, Wethersfield, CM7 4EB Mon-Fri (except Wednesdays) 10.00-16.00, Tuesdays 18-20.00, Saturdays 10-13.00, Sundays 10-11.00
  • Freshwell Health Centre, Wethersfield Road, Finchingfield, CM7 4BQ Mon-Fri 8.00-18.30
  • Braintree Council Offices, Causeway House, Bocking End CM7 9HB during opening hours.

What happens after the consultation has ended?

Once the consultation has closed an independent examiner will consider the plan along with evidence documents and all the comments. If approved, a local referendum will then follow and if the plan is supported by most of the votes it will be adopted as part of the Development Plan for Braintree.

What is a Neighbourhood Plan?

A Neighbourhood Plan is a way for communities – in this case Finchingfield and Wethersfield Parishes, to take a proactive approach to deciding the future of the places where they live and work. Once ‘made’ (adopted) a Neighbourhood Plan has the same legal status as the district wide Local Plan and is used alongside the Local Plan in deciding planning applications that fall within its area.
